MARKET STRATEGIST

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Apparent Inc. is seeking to hire an experienced Market Strategist to set specific objectives and develop a cohesive, profitable marketing strategy for our team. The Market Strategist position involves a variety of tasks including designing digital marketing campaigns, leading the go-to-market function for B2B audience, and performing market research. The Marketing Strategist will be responsible for research and development of clean energy strategies for Apparent’s energy management services and software. This role requires collection and analysis of a wide array of key inputs from Apparent, and development of a strategy that encompasses product development, pricing, key geographic markets, and marketing/branding. Experience working seamlessly across multiple departments with cross-functional teams, and providing actionable insight to senior decision makers is essential.

This position will research and analyze energy industry data, including economic factors, market trends, competitive analysis, regulatory actions, and overall energy market demand dynamics.

This is a full-time exempt position.

 

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify market demands and key opportunities aligned with Apparent’s enterprise software and connected              hardware within the U.S. and internationally
  • Develop digital campaigns to increase new business and current customer engagement
  • Analyze market data, trends, and other market input to create outlooks and assumptions on future growth                opportunities for the business.
  • Maintain knowledge of key regulatory agency actions that relate to Apparent’s products and services
  • Liaise with internal teams and ensure brand consistency
  • Partner with corporate communications to drive effective industry messaging
  • Design and execute on internal communication plans

 

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (preference for Business and Economics related study)
  • Graduate Degree strongly preferred
  • Superior communication skills both verbal and written
  • Proven professional experience developing marketing strategy
  • Demonstrable experience with marketing campaigns and web technologies (e.g. video/online tools/social media)
  • Knowledge of Content Management Systems

PRODUCT DEVELOPER

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Apparent is looking for an innovator to oversee and manage product development and launches of energy management applications and products, including evaluating and resolving technical feasibility, optimizing design, and assisting with qualification and production issues. This person must be savvy in current energy market trends, industry developments, and able to identify potential new product and new application opportunities. An entrepreneurial drive and demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a fast-paced environment is a huge plus. The Product Development group will work with cross functional teams of engineers, business development, and operations to launch products that drive business growth.

The Product Development position is best suited for a person who has a demonstrated track record of product leadership and has the ability to quickly absorb technical concepts, communicate them, and develop solutions that deliver business value.

 

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate potential products from concept, through design to production and promotion
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to address engineering design decisions, production, and promotion related      to products
  • Participate in technology development assessments
  • Work in cross-functional teams to develop business plans

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • At least five years of product management experience
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience. Stem focus and/or MBA is a plus.

SALES ENGINEER

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Apparent, Inc. is looking for a Sales Engineer to support the company’s commercial efforts broadly, acting as a technical liaison between the product and business development teams, as well as contributing directly to the projects and programs we build with our external partners. The individual will be the primary technical resource for Apparent product users, installers, and partners in the field, and the hands, eyes, and ears of the Apparent team in the field. Working in conjunction with the commercial and product teams as the key technical adviser and product advocate, the Sales Engineer will actively drive and manage the technology evaluation stage of the sales process, as well as identify and provide reliable solutions for all technical and installation issues to assure complete customer satisfaction. Projects assigned can be broad in scope with some degree of complexity.

The Sales Engineer will work closely with the President, the Chief Technology Officer, the Director of Business Development, and other functions as needed. The ideal candidate will be an experienced engineer, preferably electrical engineer, with a successful track record of solving difficult technical issues, architecting solutions to meet customer needs, and providing critical feedback to R&D based on customer input.

This is a full-time position located at Apparent’s headquarters in Novato, CA, with occasional travel to Davis, CA, as well as customer sites and external meetings.

 

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Aid in the response to RFIs and RFPs in a timely and professional manner to win bids
  • Communicate customer requirements and competitive data, including feature needs, and value proposition to          the product and business development teams and senior management
  • Provide technical information to support sales proposals including system layouts, single line diagrams, energy        production modeling, and cost details
  • Provide input to senior management on go-to-market strategies
  • Develop engineering and estimating tools to continuously optimize cost and quality
  • Stay current on codes, standards, new solar technologies, jurisdictional/utility requirements, and installation            best practices
  • Attend site visits, team meetings with internal & external partners, and customer calls & meetings
  • Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously with minimal review and oversight

 

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction related field
  • 5+ years of engineering experience; 3+ years of direct sales engineering experience with customers, preferably          electrical engineering
  • Ability to read architectural, mechanical, and electrical blueprints
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals
  • Ability to assess customer requirements, identify business problems, and demonstrate proposed solutions
  • Ability to perform conceptual engineering design of PV+ESS systems, estimate project costs, and develop                project budgets
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to influence and drive others
  • Flawless organizational and follow-up skills
  • Excellent analytical skills, include project modeling

 

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Energy industry experience, specifically solar, storage, and energy management a plus
  • The ability to help the company become a thought leader in the energy space
  • The ability to sit on technical panels and deliver strong technical presentations to prospective customers

BUSINESS STRATEGY ANALYST

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Apparent, Inc. is looking for a Business Strategy Analyst to support the business development and strategic marketing team at its Novato headquarters. The candidate will assist with the development of marketing materials, research and data analysis – including identification of applications of and customers and markets for our technology – and social networking activities. The candidate needs to be a self-starter and will need to interact with other stakeholders both within and external to the business.

The Business Strategy Analyst will work closely with the Director of Business Development. The ideal candidate will have experience with market assessments and analysis, corporate communication material development, good working knowledge of Excel, knowledge of finance, economics or business math, a positive, inquisitive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.

 

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Curating and managing prospective customer profiles
  • Research (both qualitative and quantitative) existing and potential markets and prepare material to support                senior leadership and company projects. Material preparation will sometimes involve fact-checking, data                  analysis, market trends, research, and diligence
  • Marketing collateral development, including but not limited to press releases, blog posts, website and other            social media content
  • Preparation and content generation for sales pitches, value prop quantification, and demos
  • Collaboration and design of tactical marketing campaigns
  • Proposal writing, editing and project management
  • KPI tracking, dashboard creation, reporting and analysis

REGULATORY RESEARCH ANALYST/PARALEGAL

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Apparent, Inc. is looking for a Regulatory Research Analyst or Paralegal to support the company’s operations broadly, as well as the business development and strategic marketing team at its Novato headquarters. The individual will provide analytical and project management support to the commercial team on energy policy issues, engaging in activities such as: policy research and analysis; system-wide coordination with filings and relevant policy participation; and development of resource documents for internal and external use. Projects assigned can be broad in scope with some degree of complexity. This position also requires support with regulatory and corporate filings.

The Regulatory Research Analyst or Paralegal will work closely with the Director of Business Development but will have responsibilities with other departments as needed. The ideal candidate will have experience with researching and analyzing complex regulatory compliance and policy concepts preferably before PUCs or FERC; strong project management skills; and a positive, inquisitive attitude, with the ability to learn quickly.

This is a full-time position located in Novato, CA with the opportunity to work remotely 1-2x per week, to be agreed upon with supervisor.

 

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review and inform on recently published energy regulatory legislation and policies (US broadly, California                specific)
  • Manage policy deliverables and workload tracking, including provide project management support in generation      of regulatory comments, filings, and submissions
  • Actively research, monitor, track policy meetings, Apparent-related activities and reports, relevant policies and        regulations
  • Participate in certain policy cross-functional meetings including minutes and action items
  • Provide strategic logistical support for managing policy calendars and deliverables
  • Develop and manage internal and external policy publications
  • Develop, track and manage regulatory conferences and inform internal stakeholders
  • Draft briefs, summaries, whitepapers, etc. summarizing research findings and policy implications for Apparent’s       business
  • Calendar and file standard corporate filings, as needed

 

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • BA/BS required
  • 2 or more years of experience in research, regulatory affairs, or related policy experience
