Apparent MGi

The Apparent MicroGrid Inverter

The Apparent micro-grid inverter is the first PV micro-inverter to produce apparent energy: the product of real and reactive energy. Apparent draws its name from apparent energy because it is electricity in its most complete form. Apparent’s micro-grid inverter is the only product with the ability to produce apparent power on demand.

“[F]eatures such as reactive power, smart grid interaction and energy storage are transforming inverters from simple power-conversion units into essential components of grid infrastructure… IMS Research forecasts that smart inverters will account for 80% of the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) market in 2015 [while] “standard” inverters are forecast to fall to just 42% of global shipments by 2015…” (Source: IMS Research)

The MGi also forms a smart, micro grid within the larger electrical grid. By creating a local, adjustable micro-grid, the MGi improves the overall efficiency of energy transportation through the national electric grid by dropping the voltage required to push energy through power lines.

Key Features

    • The MGi creates a smart micro-grid, facilitating photovoltaic integration with the electrical grid
    • Both the components of apparent energy – real and reactive, are produced
    • Adjustable power factor, leading and lagging
    • The MGi allows solar participation in Ancillary Services and integration of utility-scale installations
    • MGi supports LEED certification for both retrofitted buildings and new construction
    • Every micro-inverter installed is connected to the internet and its data is stored on our servers, tracking each one’s performance
    • Energy REView, a software program, provides panel-by-panel monitoring information, ensuring the functionality of each MGi
